Ostapchuk lost the 2012 Olympic gold after failing a doping test and she has since had further titles taken away from her.
Adams manager Nick Cowen says he expects the 2010 world indoor gold medal to now be forwarded to the Aucklander…. giving her 10 global titles.
It also means Adams’ unbeaten run in the shot-put improves from 56 to 107 events.
Once one of the most decorated shot putters in history, Ostapchuk is now left with gold in the 1998 World Juniors, 1999 European Juniors, 2001 European U23 and 2005 European Indoor, silver in the 2001 and 2003 World Indoors and 2003 Worlds, and bronze in the 2004 Olympics.
Medals she has lost are gold in 2005 Worlds, 2010 World Indoor & European and 2012 Olympics; silver in 2006 European and 2007 Worlds, 2008 World Indoor, 2011 Worlds and 2012 World Indoor; bronze in 2008 Olympics plus victory in 2007 World Athletics Final and 2nd in 2010 Continental Cup.
The main beneficiary of Ostapchuk’s cheating being discovered and punished is Adams who can now claim ten global titles: 2008 & 2012 Olympic; 2007, 2009, 2011 & 2013 World; 2008, 2010, 2012 & 2014 World Indoor.
Adams is also silver medallist at the 2005 Worlds and 2016 Olympics and bronze medallist at the 2016 World Indoors.
