Shanjivan Padarath has taken journalist Savaira Tabua and the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation to court for damage of character.

It is alleged that FBC News ran a story on a case about a fake doctor incorrectly using images of Padarath.

Shanjivan Padarath’s lawyer Sunil Kumar stated that this has painted a bad public image of his client and he is now being called by members of the public as a fake doctor.

Padarath is also claiming the coverage has affected his career, his promotion and other opportunities that were open to him locally or abroad as a qualified doctor.

The case will be called again on the 22nd of June.
