Families celebrate Diwali despite the rain

Families still got together to share sweets and light firecrackers to mark the victory of light over darkness.

Diwali celebrations were held around the country marking one of the most major festivals of Hinduism.

Despite the heavy rain last night, houses were beautifully decorated with lights and firecrackers were lit as they lit up the dark skies.

This was also a time families and friends enjoyed each other’s company sharing sweets.

“this is like the most special time of the year for all of us and we are having alot of fun with all the lights the firecrackers and everything so.” said Simran Nand – Nadawa Resident.

“yeah despite the rain we managed to have a great time. we’ll after prayers visitors came so we had to entertain them and as you can see the grog session is on and all the kids came to play firecrackers and have sweets it was a great time.” she added.

It was a special night for families which they will cherish.

The festival of lights lit up parts of the capital city last night.
