Fiji submits 17 commitments at World Oceans Conference

bai2-300x200Fiji has submitted a total of 17 commitments at the World Oceans Conference that occurred in New York, last week.

Minister for Fisheries, Semi Koroilavesau confirms they have mapped out strategies to fulfill their bid in protecting the ocean and the marine resources.

After the World Oceans Conference – the ministry of fisheries is wasting no time in getting out to the communities and spreading the message across.

Minister, Semi Koroilavesau says they are confident of having a lot of support from other countries leading up to the COP 23 after the successful meeting in America.

Koroilavesau adds the conference was an eye-opener for most of the representatives.

The commitments are Fiji’s strategic plans in conserving the ocean and the marine resources.

The ministry will be visiting most of the Island communities to advocate and also assist in marine projects.
