Fiji surfers prepare for World Junior Titles

By: Irfaan Khan

surfingThe Fiji National Junior Surfing team leaves for the ISA World Junior Titles on Monday 18th September.

The World Titles will be in Hyuga, Japan, from 22nd September through to 1st October.

Our Junior team representatives are Apisai Tibinaliva, Kalani Wakeham and Kiesha Wakeham. All surfers will be competing in the U/16 division against an expected 50 other countries from around the world.

Their training has been good and we are confident that they will do Fiji proud in the event. The last time Fiji sent a junior team to the world titles was 2010 when 2 juniors travelled to New Zealand for the event.

With the focus clearly on gaining Olympis selection in 2020 in Japan the team know they will have to bring their A game.

We will forward any photo’s and editorials that are released from the event and hope Fiji media will get behind this historic event.

The team departs Nadi Airport at 10am but will need to go through security etc so they will be available for photos or quick chats at 7.30am in the departure area.
