India – Fiji relations strengthen

Karan, who is currently in the country said Fiji’s support for India to become a member of the United Nations Security Council is a positive development in the bilateral ties of both nations.

“Supporting each other is part of diplomacy and we have had very strong and long relationship with India both historically and diplomatically that dates back to 1970. It’s a good sign” said Karan

Karan said Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the country has also helped Fiji gain popularity in India.

Indian media was also commended to provide extensive coverage of Modi’s short visit.

” I think we have projected Fiji very well. It is a great opportunity. Advertising in India is very expensive. One page of a newspaper is close to $185,000 for a day. So these news in both print and television, we have projected Fiji well” said Karan
