A joint venture between Tropic Woods and a South Korean biomass company which is developing a biomass plant in Fiji is almost complete.

The Navutu plant in Sigatoka will output 12 mega-watts, of electricity which will be sold to the Fiji Electricity Authority through its main grid.

“We are evaluating the situation, the plant is due for commercial operation in April next year, so its not too far way.” said Tropik Wood Chairman Faiz Khan.

The plant is a joint venture between Korean biomass entity GIMCO and  Tropik Wood Industries Limited.
