Pacific island countries unite for global climate change summit

climate2Fiji and other Pacific island nations are expected to form a coalition for action on climate change.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama revealed this while speaking at the second Thailand Pacific Islands Countries Forum, yesterday.

Bainimarama told the forum that Fiji and the other island nations will be leading the charge at the Global Climate Summit in Paris later this year.

The Prime Minister says the message of the Pacific’s extreme vulnerability needs to be taken to every corner of the Earth, involving citizens of other nations pressuring their Governments to recognize the Pacific’s plight.

The Prime Minister termed the carbon emitting developed nations, “the coalition of the selfish”, as he says they’ve chosen to put the short term interests of their economies and the jobs of their workers before the common good.
