Police and council address water safety

Water SafetyThe months of November to April often records the highest number of drownings in the country.

That’s according to previous trend says the Fiji Police Force.

The Water Safety Council is also now working closely with Police to help reduce these statistics.

According to Police up to 71 per cent of the country’s drowning’s happened during those months.

From January until today 20th October, there have been 36 drowning’s.

Of that number, 75 per cent were males and 25 per cent females.

At least 30 per cent of victims were aged between 17 and 35 years of age while the remaining 20 percent were below 6 years old.
