In 2011, revenue collected from annual license fees peaked at just over 121 thousand dollars, but has since decreased substantially over the years.
Minister for Fisheries Semi Koroilavesau did not provide reasons for the drop in revenue, but says there is a total of 410 qoliqolis in Fiji, excluding Rotuma.
The geographical spread per province or Yasana is 375 in total, that has been surveyed.
The Yasana of Tailevu has the most number of qoliqolis sitting at 78.
The Ministry of Fisheries has yet to provide details of ownership of the qoliqoli areas in Fiji.
