Speeding drivers a risk for road construction in the North

Fulton Hogan LabasaSpeeding drivers have become one of the biggest daily challenges faced by road construction crews working between Seaqaqa and Labasa Town.

Fulton Hogan Hiways, Senior Construction Supervisor North, Wayne Whittingham, said this has resulted in some near misses.

FHH is contracted by the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) to carry out its maintenance programme to improve road access across the Central, Northern and Eastern divisions.

Up until the week ending 31stAugust, Whittingham and a team of 11 had prepared several work sites along this stretch of main road for resealing.

He said that an average of two speeding drivers was reported per week to the Land Transport Authority apart from flagging drivers to slow down on the 30km/h work area.

Whittingham, however, has thanked other drivers for their tolerance and patience.
