sumeet-tappooFiji Born singer who made it big in India believes more concerted efforts are needed in Fiji to make music industry a professional one.

Sumeet Tappoo who recently performed in Fiji says he has plans in future in open up a music school in the country and will mentor the local artists.

Tappoo says Fiji has an abundance of talent however they need professional guidance.

“There is talent unfortunately we don’t have an industry here. I think there should be more investment in them, give them a platform. We can’t have small platforms in individual towns and cities. I think there has to be a national platform through which they will rise,” said Tappoo.

Tappoo’s recent shows in Suva and Nadi were a hit among the music lovers.

He hopes to come back to perform in Fiji by next year.

“Its important that artists dedicate the time and effort towards it and then only they can reap the benefits. You can’t do it past time and think you will have a professional career”
