After a 13 hour flight and a five hour layover in Hong Kong, Team Fiji has settled in Bangkok, Thailand on their way to Fiji’s first ever participation in the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
Chef de Mission Sale Sorovaki said the journey has been long and there were a lot of tired athletes.
“After travelling for the last 15 plus hours we are looking forward to some much needed rest and hopefully rejuvenate for the rest of our flight to Turkmenistan,” he said.
Team Fiji arrived in Thailand at 2am this morning and will continue their travel after a full 24 hour rest.
The team is expected to arrive in Ashgabat on the 16th with the officially opening for the Games on the 17th of September.
Team Fiji consists of four teams including athletics, swimming, tennis and weightlifting.
